Celebrate the World with ฮ็านพ็ณก Stark at Global Gateway Day on June 10

Saturday, June 10 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.

The public is invited to experience international food and live cultural performances.

Building bridges to other cultures is a way of life at ฮ็านพ็ณก at Stark โ€“ and not just during the fall and spring.

ฮ็านพ็ณก Starkโ€™s Global Gateway Day is a family-friendly summer afternoon filled with cultural performances, international food sampling, global games and activities for all ages. The event will take place on Saturday, June 10, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Campus Center. This second annual event is free and open to the public.

โ€œA key initiative of ฮ็านพ็ณก Stark is to expand opportunities for students and to Stark County families to engage in global citizenship and participate in cultural events through our campus,โ€ said Denise A. Seachrist, Ph.D., dean of ฮ็านพ็ณก Stark. โ€œThis is the type of event that opens you up to new ways of thinking and teaches you about the world beyond your own.โ€

Activities will include:

  • International Food Samplings: Families can enjoy authentic food samples from the Caribbean, Eastern Europe, West Africa and Southeast Asia.
  • Live Cultural Performances: Attendees can experience cultural performances such as a Chinese Dragon Dance, salsa dancing and an African drum and dance interactive performance and workshop with ฮ็านพ็ณกโ€™s own African Ensemble.
  • Games and Activities: Families also can participate in an Origami station, get a Henna tattoo, view ฮ็านพ็ณก Starkโ€™s study abroad photo gallery and enjoy a world landmark photo booth.
