Study Abroad/Study Away

The College of Nursing offers multiple study abroad/away opportunities that enable you to study health care with a global perspective.

Nursing students have the opportunity to travel to one of these locations: London, England/Florence, Italy/Pine Ridge Indian Reservation to study. While there, you will learn with international experts and earn academic credits toward your degree. 

 

Florence, Italy: Florence Health Institute

Class Dates: May 26-June 19, 2025
Approximate Travel Dates: May 22-June22, 2025

​The ÎçÒ¹¾ç³¡ Florence Health Institute (FHI) is an opportunity for students who are pursuing a career in Public Health, Nursing, Medicine, Pharmacy or any related field to study the impacts of their field through an international lens.

In this creative and interprofessional study abroad experience, students from ÎçÒ¹¾ç³¡ will study a total of seven (7) credits in Florence for one month during the summer. All courses will be offered at both the undergraduate and graduate level in order to satisfy a variety of students’ academic needs.

Courses & Credits:

  • NURS 40089 International Health Care Policies (3 credits)
  • Plagues that Shaped the World (3 credits)
  • MCLS 10095 Italian for Medical Professionals (1 credit)

Estimated Cost: $6,000 plus airfare (Scholarships available!)

Anticipated Cost: $3,000 for flight, lodging, programming & transportation (Total cost: Estimated at $3,900 including food and entertainment)

STUDY AWAY: Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, South Dakota

Experiences: Healthcare settings, public health nursing, community gardening, Pine Ridge dormitory, schools and sight seeing as time allows
Estimated Cost: $1,600 (includes lodging, transportation, airfare and cost of require 2 credit hour course - Transcultural Nursing)
