College of Architecture and Environmental Design Students Pitching Designs in Warren

ÎçÒ¹¾ç³¡â€™s College of Architecture and Environmental Design students have been commissioned to create new design concepts for a redevelopment site in Warren, Ohio, as recently featured in the Youngstown Business Journal.

BSN Students and faculty who traveled to South Dakota fall semester 2022.

In the southwest corner of South Dakota, on the Nebraska border and at the southern end of the Badlands, sits the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. It is home to the Ogalala Lakota Nation.

This fall, faculty and students from the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program at ÎçÒ¹¾ç³¡ Salem traveled to the reservation in what has become an almost annual excursion. The COVID-19 pandemic put a halt to the trips over the last three years, which made this return visit quite significant for members of the group.

Beth Smerchansky, a maintenance facility worker at ÎçÒ¹¾ç³¡, will earn a certificate after serving in a training program led by the Association of Building Contractors right on campus.

ÎçÒ¹¾ç³¡ is tapping in to its talent pool of workers already employed by the university to meet the shortages of skilled maintenance workers.

The combination of passing on a love of Earth science while acting as a mentor for students is a perfect match for Eric Taylor, associate professor in the Department of Earth Sciences at ÎçÒ¹¾ç³¡ at Stark.

Ohio Employee Ownership Center Workshop

A ÎçÒ¹¾ç³¡ program is helping business owners retire by providing them succession plans to ease the transition in their companies.

ÎçÒ¹¾ç³¡ at Geauga faculty and staff playing an integral role in developing an occupational health and safety training program for Geauga County businesses are: Lance Williams, director of operations and special projects at ÎçÒ¹¾ç³¡ Geauga, Sanhita Gupta, Ph.D., associate professor of Biological Sciences, Erin Bailey, Ph.D., associate professor of Biological Sciences, and Angela Spalsbury, Ph.D., dean of the Geauga Campus.

Thanks to a $75,000 grant from Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) Susan Harwood Training Grants Program, ÎçÒ¹¾ç³¡ at Geauga is designing a pilot training program for workers from small businesses in underserved rural communities to help ensure safe and healthy workplaces. As part of the campus’ ongoing commitment to leadership in regional workforce development, the program will be implemented in Geauga County starting in the second quarter of 2023.
