ÎçÒ¹¾ç³¡ Director and Associate Professor Molly Merryman Offers Perspective on LGBTQ Community

Molly Merryman, Ph.D., the founding director of ÎçÒ¹¾ç³¡'s Center for the Study of Gender and Sexuality and associate professor of sociology in the College of Arts and Sciences, was featured in a USA TODAY opinion piece which outlined black transgender women’s contributions to the LGBTQ movement.Molly Merryman, Ph.D.

The article focused on how in the United States there is a continued discrimination against LGTBQ members of African descent despite their pivotal role in the advancement of the LGBTQ movement.
 
Dr. Merryman provided additional insight revealing to USA TODAY that “there’s a host of other people often erased from the conversation too, like butch lesbians and young homeless men.â€
